Help
ArtRunner was designed and built to be intuitive and easy to use. Over time this help section will be built up to answer most queries, but in the event that there’s something you’d still like help on don’t hesitate to buzz us at justask@artrunner.com.
Browsing art There are two ways to browse art. On the homepage, you’ll see a ‘Quick Browse’ box. Quick Browsing is a basic search feature where you can select a medium, category, price range and keywords and then click on ‘Go!’
For a more refined search click on the ‘Browse Art’ link at the top of the page, you’ll be taken to the browse page where you can define more advanced searches such as the location of artwork and how you’d like your search results to be displayed. Once you’re all set, click on ‘Filter’ and your results will be displayed.
If you see something you like, click on the image and the artwork’s details will be displayed. Both registered and non-registered users can browse through art but only registered users can make an offer to purchase it.
Registering Becoming a registered user allows you to take advantage of all of ArtRunner’s features. You’ll be able to create your own profile, post up your own art and make offers for other art.
To register, click on the ‘Register with ArtRunner.com’ button near the top right corner of the page and you’ll be taken to the Register page. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory. You can also upload a portrait of yourself for other users to see, and although not required it will help potential buyers relate more to yourself as an artist.
Once your details are filled-in, just click on ‘Register’ at the bottom of the page and you’re ready to go!
Buying Art
ArtRunner enables buyers to deal directly with an artist. The prices you see are all set by artist and all communication and payment will be done between yourself and the artist you make an offer to. You must, however, register and be logged-in to make offers on artwork.
Once you’ve seen an piece of art that you’d like to buy (see ‘Browsing art’ above), click on the ‘Make an offer’ button next to the asking price. You’ll be taken to a Make-offer form to fill in, but if you haven’t logged-in or registered the site will prompt you to do so first. The details you enter will be emailed straight to the artist and to be as impartial as possible we have no record of the offer you make. Once you’re satisfied click on the ‘Make Offer’ button at the bottom and the form will be sent. The artist will receive an email instantly and get in touch with you directly.
Warning: Reports of abusive messages will result in termination of your account without notice.
Posting Artwork Once you’re registered and logged-in you’re able to post up listings of your artwork for sale. You can only add one listing at a time.
To add a listing, click on the ‘Add Listing’ link on the grey bar towards the top of the page (note: you must be logged-in). Next, fill in the details about the artwork you’d like to post up. Next to ‘Main image’ click on the ‘Browse’ button, a window will pop up asking you to select the picture you’d like from your computer. Double-click on the file and the window should close with a link to the file automatically filled by the ‘Main image’ field.
You’ll also have the option to upload two additional images of your artwork. This feature is entirely optional but is useful if for example, there’s a particular feature (such as the main subject or the frame) of the artwork you’d like to zoom in on or at a different angle for sculptures etc. To add an additional image, just click on the ‘Browse’ button by Additional image 1 / 2 and follow the same procedure as the Main image.
Once you’re ready to go, just click on ‘Add Listing’ at the bottom of the page and your artwork will be posted up.
